The internet will always be iffy, but if you tell your child what to play and what not to play, if you tell your child to tell you everything about their online life, it will be fine. What games does s/he like to play? What is s/he scared of? Is s/he emotional? Although this game has slight violence, there is no blood or gore. Remember, tell your child what to do and what not to do online. It's appropriate, fun, and down-right addicting! If you need to cook dinner in peace, or if you want to look at television alone, this is the best thing to do it. His or her face will light up, and this game will keep them distracted for at least an hour. I promise you, that your child will love this game. I recommend to make sure that Monkey Quest is the only tab open - the only thing open when you play. This does cause "lagging", or a very slow computer. Over the time it has been open, Monkey Quest has become very popular. None can be exactly the same! Your child will never see a monkey with their name - it's completely theirs, and after they use it, they own it, and no one can use it.
The graphics are beautiful and unique, and the monkeys are each different. It's extremely cute, and wonderful for your younger children. It's special and wonderful because, well, how many monkey games do you see now-a-days? Not that many, if you ask me. Monkey Quest is a fun, virtual world - a MMORPG. If your kids can read and are willing to invest an decent amount of time into this game, then sign them up. Don't sign your kids up for it if that's what you're looking for. The elder, wiser monkeys want to teach the others, but that's about it. They don't have alot of positive role models either, no matter what they say. Yeah, they don't have alot of 'positive' messages, unless you count working together to fight and save the world. You're fighting fictional creatures, you guys, Give Nick a break. Yeah, OK, the first 'weapon' you get is a stick. Really? 'Too Violent'? If this game is anything, it ain't violent. It's not hardcore, but it's not a lot of button mashing, it takes a certian amount of stratgey. Yes, this game requires you to 'jump around and make noises', but it's not a NickJr game either. This game can be frustrating! I spent a good 45 minutes trying to figure out one quest, but that's what makes it intresting. My brother can read and everything, but he needed me to stop playing XBOX every once and awhile so I could get him to a certian platform. Mostly because this game requires you to read quests and hints along the way, so not being able to read is frustrating.

The thing is, if your kid wants to play monkey quest, they should have a decent idea of HOW TO READ. My brother wanted to play this, so I signed him up. I actually regularly play Monkey Quest, and considering I'm a serious gamer, that should be an auto-matic OK.
